Torn Between Two Cultures: An Immigrant Story

The following is a profile feature article I wrote for my Communication Writing course. The assignment was to interview a subject who feels as if he or she is "straddling between two worlds." In this paper, I reveal a common struggle that many immigrants face when assimilating into a new culture with a focus on Korean Americans.

Literary Analysis - Utilizing Authors' Reflections to Analyze Their Texts

While studying abroad in London, I took an advanced writing course that required the intensive study of post-2010 literary texts. The course allowed its students the unique opportunity to personally interview the author of each text that was read. The course culminated with a final paper in which I had to analyze two literary texts with respect to the information gathered from interviewing each author.

Best Portrayals of The Joker

While working as a Social Media Intern at Way To Blue, I wrote several blogs for Regal Cinemas, a client. The blogs were then posted to Regal Reel, the official blog of Regal Cinemas. This post discusses my personal ranking of the best cinematic and television portrayals of the DC Comics' character, Joker, in preparation for the release of the 2019 film, Joker.

Multi-Format Music Design

As a final project for my Design and Strategy course, I used Adobe Creative Suite to visually design an album cover and concert tour poster for the artist of my choice. Considering design elements such as typography, space, color and graphics, I crafted a minimalist yet compelling design that reflects the ominous nature of the artist's music.

Michigan State University: A History of Sexual Assault

As a final project for my Crisis Communication course, my team and I completed a case-study for the crisis study of our choice. We chose to analyze the Michigan State University sexual abuse scandal by evaluating its situational analysis, crisis type, warning signals, stakeholder responses and its impact. We also provide recommendations for how the university could have better managed the crisis.

The Relationship Between Finsta Usage and Personality Type

The following is a research project that my team and I conducted for our Communication Research course. For this project, we examine the relationship between the personality types of extraversion and narcissism and an individual's likelihood to possess a "finsta" account. It required that we design our own research measures, collect and analyze our own data, report our results and draw conclusions from our findings.

An Audit of American Airlines: Analyzing its Reputation and Communications

For my Corporate Communications course, my team and I performed an audit of a company's primary reputation and communication challenges. We chose American Airlines, and the goal was to provide recommendations on how the airline should address its challenges and ultimately improve its communications and reputation.

Editorial: President Trump's Attack on Mexican Immigrants Is an Attack on America

For my Communication Writing course, I wrote an editorial for the topic of my choice. In this paper, I condemn President Trump's disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants, and attempt to enlighten Americans on facts about Mexicans living in the United States.
